Welcome to CAFP

Welcome to the website of the Commonwealth Association for Financial Professionals ("CAFP").  The CAFP is a non-profit professional association serving central Virginia for over 25 years to provide an active and open exchange of concepts and techniques related to Finance and Treasury Management.  CAFP is a regional affiliate of the national Association for Financial Professionals ("AFP").

Letter from the President 2018-2019

Welcome!  As President of the Commonwealth Association for Financial Professionals (“CAFP”), I am excited to welcome you.  We have a great year planned, packed full of pertinent programming to expand your knowledge of current financial topics.

For more than 25 years, the CAFP (formerly Commonwealth Treasury Management Association) has  provided Financial Professionals in Central Virginia a forum for open exchange of concepts, techniques, and ideas related to improving cash management, treasury and FP&A functions.

Membership is open to individuals and companies primarily involved in Finance or Treasury functions within their corporate and government entities, and those who provide FP&A, cash and treasury management services from the banking, accounting, education and consulting industries.

Our monthly lunch meetings offer CAFP members the opportunity to learn about relevant finance and treasury management subject matter. We also host an annual local facility tour to give our membership an operational experience.  Members also enjoy social networking events during the year.  Our season culminates each spring with a day-long training session that focuses on a variety of topics in the financial and treasury management fields.  As a member of the CAFP, you are invited to all of our events and encouraged to bring a guest.

CAFP recognizes the significance of attaining the Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), Certified Corporate FP&A Professional (FP&A) Certified Public Accounting (CPA), Certified Management Accountants (CMA) and Certified Cash Manager (CCM) designations. Therefore, our meetings qualify for CTP, FP&A, and CPE credits.

I encourage you to add our posted meetings to your calendar now.  Please arrive early to each meeting so you can network with our diverse membership representing most of Richmond's business community. Through our regular monthly meetings and Spring Training session, you will have the opportunity to earn up to 12 certification credits annually, meeting the minimum requirements established by the Association for Financial Professionals. You can find details of each meeting on our Calendar tab.

I hope you will consider joining the CAFP by completing the easy online application. Should you have any questions or comments, please contact Jeff Skoog, Vice President of Membership at (804) 327-5726 or jeffreyskoog@bankatunion.com, or me at (804) 484-8769 / Leslie.C.Hardesty@Altria.com.

We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event!

Best regards,
Leslie Hardesty, MBA
President, CAFP
